Bruce Carter, MD, P.C.

Since 1983, Dr. Bruce Carter has provided cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery services in Salem, Oregon.  He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, both recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. Dr. Carter is dedicated to the highest possible standards of care and to the continuing development of his professional skills and knowledge.  He utilizes some of the most advanced technical procedures and equipment available.

After finishing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Carter completed four years of medical school at The Ohio State University and graduated in 1973. He then completed five years of general surgery training and two years of plastic surgery training in USAF post-graduate programs in Mississippi and Texas. Following his plastic surgery residency, Dr. Carter served as Chief of Plastic Surgery at David Grant USAF Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in northern California. He and his young family moved to Salem in 1983 to begin his practice of plastic surgery. Dr. Carter recently opened his new clinic in the Center for Outpatient Medicine in the fall of 2000. The new clinic provides the much-needed space for his expanding practice and for ongoing technological advances.

Dr. Carter has a quiet and knowledgeable style of communication. He provides each person with an individual assessment and solution that is customized to his or her particular needs. He can help analyze the multiple information sources available to you in your quest for the best plastic surgery outcome. Dr. Carter continues to dedicate time to the ongoing education of medical students and plastic surgery residents. He has been a faculty member at Oregon Health Sciences University since 1983 and holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery.

Dr. Carter has held many prestigious, peer-elected positions in his profession. He believes that being involved in health-care decision-making is one way to make a difference in the future of our community. Dr. Carter is an active staff member at Salem Hospital and has served in many positions on the Medical Staff, including President in 1997. He is a member of the Marion-Polk County Medical Society and was elected President in 1994. He stays involved, in the changing field of plastic surgery through memberships in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, the Oregon Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Northwest Society of Plastic Surgeons. He was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and maintains active memberships in several other health care organizations. He is very proud to have been selected by his peers to be included in "The Best Doctors in America". When there is available time, Dr. Carter enjoys travel, gardening, fishing, reading, outdoor sports and time with his family.
